1 NIGHT, 6 HOURS, DARING ARTISTS, RE-AWAKENED SPACES, 10000 + REVELERS, 8+ TOURS, 1 PHONE APP, and multiple HOT SPOTS
Sophia (co*lab) coordinated the interactive elements for Nocturne 2011 – an art at night festival.
The aim was to weave together disparate public art exhibits strewn throughout the city and bring them to life by basing them in place – city landmarks and time- relevant civic issues. How could Nocturne a night of temporary beauty and engagement spread beyond the evening to be an ongoing urban catalyst for regeneration in Halifax?
Through organizing the interactive elements co*lab organized and supported various modes for citizens and tourists to engage – 12 walking tours, bus tours, ferry rides, bike tours, bike valet parking, and coordination with the nocturne iphone app hotspots around the city made by MindSea.
The evening was about – a moment of interconnection, a flash of play, the bubbling up of experimentation. We hosted tours to enliven places and spaces, for strangers to meet, for people to relate with meaning and spontaneity. Our provocation for the evening – “can we awaken to the potential of our public realm – our city? What is evolving tonight? Beyond the here, the now, into our Collective Future…
